Using the wiki model, Wikitravel is built through collaboration Wikitravellers from around the world. Articles can include the level of geographic specificity, from continents to districts of the city. It is logically connected in a hierarchy, by specifying that the location is covered in one article “was in” a larger location described by others. The project also includes articles on topics related to travel, Phrasebooks for travelers, and suggested the trip.
Wikitravel is a multilingual project available in 21 languages, the language of each specific project developed independently. English version of the lead in terms of the number of articles with more than 23,700. While this project uses the MediaWiki software, which is also used by Wikipedia, Wikitravel is not a Wikimedia project, but started and operated independently.
Wikitravel travel guides are available under a free content license, while the Internet Brand has a web site and associated tradesign, contributors have the content they contribute and they agreed to license the content for free use.
